Angioplasty.Org Needs Your
Help....
This independent educational
website is not unlike your local educational television or radio station.
While Angioplasty.Org receives some grants from companies who believe
in its mission (and we gratefully thank those companies) we
are also asking for supplementary contributions from our users in order
to be
able
to continue providing this service
to those who visit us over 80,000 times each month.
We've Been Around for a Decade
Angioplasty.Org
was started in 1997, the 20th anniversary of coronary angioplasty,
and was one of the first healthcare sites on the World Wide
Web. Unlike
the giant WebMDs of the internet, Angioplasty.Org has stayed small,
focussed and non-commercial. Created and managed by one of the
early pioneers of medical education for interventional cardiologists,
Angioplasty.Org promotes the benefits of these minimally-invasive
alternatives to open surgery, yet also does not shy away from publicizing
potential problems with devices and therapies.
A Unique Forum
Angioplasty.Org
is one of the only places on the internet, if not THE only
place, where patients have aired their experiences with allergic
reactions
to drug-eluting stents. We are currently working with cardiologists
to aid in a study of these reactions.
