Dr. Ajay J. Kirtane<\/p><\/div>\n

The TCT (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics) annual meeting is, according to its organizers, the world\u2019s largest and most important conference in interventional cardiovascular medicine. And this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the TCT (note: the entire field of interventional cardiology is only 36 years of age).<\/p>\n

This year also marks Dr. Ajay Kirtane’s role as an official Co-Director of the TCT, in recognition of his contributions and dedication to the meeting. Dr. Kirtane has played an important role in TCT planning and organization since 2006. He will be joining TCT Managing Co- Director, Dr. Gary S. Mintz, MD and fellow Co-Directors, Drs. George D. Dangas, William A. Gray, and Roxana Mehran in helping to plan this year\u2019s conference.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kirtane, a friend of our site, is also Chief Academic Officer of the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy, Division of Cardiology, Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC), and serves as Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at CUMC\/New York-Presbyterian Hospital.<\/p>\n

He is also a “radialist,” i.e. he utilizes the transradial (wrist) approach<\/a> in a majority of his cases. You can follow Dr. Kirtane on Twitter at @AjayKirtane<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This year’s TCT takes place in San Francisco, from October 27-November 1. That means the last night of TCT will also be Halloween in San Francisco. I’ve already figured out my costume. I’m going as a doctor!<\/p>\n
