Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography Announces Third Annual Young Investigator Awards

California -- The Society of Cardiovascular Computed
Tomography (SCCT), the leading international professional society
devoted
to cardiovascular computed tomography (CT), is now accepting
submissions for the third annual Young Investigator Awards.
Sponsored by Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., the unrestricted
educational grant will be awarded to two residents or fellows
in either radiology or cardiology for their patient care research
in the categories of technical and clinical advancement of
cardiovascular CT. |
The deadline for submissions is April 6,
2009.
Abstracts are being accepted in two categories – Technology
of Cardiovascular CT and Clinical Applications of Cardiovascular
CT. Applicants may enter by submitting an abstract through the
SCCT Web
site, www.call4abstracts.com/express/scct09d1. Following are details
for submissions. More complete criteria is available online.
- The applicant must be within 5 years of
completing training;
- The material must not be previously published;
- Material
submitted must pertain to research relating to technical and
clinical
advancement of cardiovascular CT;
- The application must also
include a mini-manuscript (1,000 words or less) in accordance
to the
guidelines for submission for the
Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT), http://www.journalofcardiovascularct.com,
and be submitted through a separate email to the managing editor
of JCCT, Anna Leong, at aleong@scct.org.
An independent panel of five editorial advisors will review the submitted papers for scientific accuracy, as well as originality, creativity and writing style. Five finalists will be selected and notified by April 20, 2009. Each finalist will receive a $1,000 travel stipend and complimentary registration to the Annual Scientific Meeting and deliver a ten minute lecture presentation of their work. The two entries that best meet the review criteria will receive the Young Investigator Award and be awarded a $2,500 cash prize, trophy, an opportunity for priority peer-reviewed publication in the JCCT and recognition at a Toshiba-sponsored social event.
This year’s award recipients will be announced at the SCCT’s
Annual Scientific Meeting, July 16-19, 2009 in Orlando, Fla.
