The next few months offer some unique training opportunities for the U.S. interventional cardiologist regarding the transradial approach to catheterization, angioplasty and stent implantation via the wrist artery.
In just two weeks the annual meeting of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) begins, and on the first afternoon there will be a two-part symposium devoted to the Transradial Approach. From 1:00pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday, May 28, SCAI will hold a series of presentations and discussions led by pioneers in the transradial approach.
SCAI has taken the lead among the professional societies in promoting the wrist approach among its membership and the interventional cardiology community at large. To whit, they are sponsoring two of their popular one-day TRIPs (TRansradial Intervention Program) coast-to-coast: one in Miami Beach on September 27 and another in Los Angeles on November 15. Co-Directors of both TRIP programs are radial innovators Samir B. Pancholy, MD, FSCAI and Sunil V. Rao, MD, FSCAI.
Not to be left behind, the Cardiology Research Foundation (CRF) is running their third transradial PCI program on June 14 in Marina del Rey, California. The course organizers are Drs. Philippe Généreux and Ajay J. Kirtane of CRF. The course is only open to interventional cardiologists and interventional cardiology fellows. You can register online for this course. Although the course is not CME accredited, there is no charge.
You can read more about these and other radial training opportunities on our TransRadial Training Course page. And, of course (pun intended), if you are offering a radial course that is not listed, send the info to us and we’ll post it at no charge.
