Coronary Stent Measurement System
is Licensed in Canada

Home-country certification of Medical Venture's Metricath Gemini
will permit additional international approvals

February 22, 2007 -- Richmond, BC -- Medical Venture Corp. (TSXV: MEV), a medical devices company specializing in products for the vascular and surgical markets, has received a medical device license from Health Canada for its Metricath Gemini® vessel measurement system.

Canadian licensing permits Medical Ventures to market and sell the device in Canada for use in angioplasty procedures that treat diseased coronary arteries. The license also grants the product country-of-origin certification, a frequent requirement in seeking broader international regulatory acceptance.

The Metricath Gemini device was approved in Europe in Q3 2006 for all vascular applications and is cleared for use in peripheral (non-coronary) artery procedures in the United States. Medical Ventures is presently engaged in a clinical trial – called “GAAME” – to support its application to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for the device to be used in the U.S. in coronary arteries.

The Metricath Gemini consists of a dual-balloon catheter and electronic console unit. The device’s low-pressure balloon measures the internal diameter and area of blood vessels and stents, small expandable mesh tubes placed in damaged arteries to help restore blood flow. The Gemini’s high-pressure angioplasty balloon can be used to enlarge vessels or under-deployed stents by expanding the balloon within the artery.

Studies suggest accurately measuring arteries and confirming proper stent deployment during angioplasty can reduce a patient’s likelihood of post-procedure complications, including re-narrowing of vessels and/or blood clotting. The Gemini device uniquely allows doctors to measure and treat diseased arteries with a single catheter.
