Angioplasty.Org is making available a one-hour online symposium,
titled "Transradial
Access: The Advantages to You, Your Patient and Hospital",
with a panel of four leading interventional cardiologists: Dr.
Jeffrey Popma of Caritas Cardiovascular Center, St. Elizabeth
Medical Center, Boston, MA, Dr. Ramon Quesada of Baptist Cardiac & Vascular
Institute, Miami, FL, Dr. Ron Caputo of St. Joseph’s Hospital
Cardiology Associates, Syracuse, NY and Dr. Shigeru Saito of
Shonan- Kamakura General Hospital, Japan. |
The original symposium was held during the
2008 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) meeting on
October 16 at the Washington Convention
Center in
Washington DC and is being presented through a partnership of Angioplasty.Org,
TCTMD.com and Terumo Medical Corporation.
A full multimedia version of the hour-long presentation,
divided into four segments, can be accessed here,
in Angioplasty.Org's Radial Access Center.
The topics covered include:
- Why we need to see greater use of transradial
access
- Transradial access for STEMI
- In the modern era vascular
complications are still significant
- My worldwide
experience and how transradial has grown
This program should be of interest to any
physician who wishes to find out more about this
alternate approach to
catheter-based
procedures,
one
which has been shown to reduce bleeding and mortality by 50%.
Angioplasty.Org wishes to thank
the TCTMD
website for allowing this presentation to be seen by a wide
audience. Additional
presentations from the TCT meetings are available
through the TCT's premium service, TCT
Gold.
About The Radial Access Center on Angioplasty.Org
To assist in educating the professional and patient population in the U.S.
about the this technique, Angioplasty.Org has created the "Radial
Access Center for Transradial Approach", a special section devoted
to information and news about the transradial technique, for both patients
and physicians. The Radial Center features interviews with leading practitioners
of the radial technique, such as Drs. Jeffrey Popma, R. Lee Jobe, John Coppola,
Shigeru Saito, Kirk Garratt, Tak Kwan and Howard Cohen.
For patients there is also a "Hospital
Locator" that lists U.S. centers practicing radial angiography.
As Dr. Howard Cohen of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York says of
the wrist technique, "Patients really prefer it. 95% of
people who've had it both ways would say 'I'm coming back to
you, Dr. Cohen because I like this transradial a lot better than
the other way!'
