February 25, 2015 -- Vienna, Virginia -- The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) Board of Trustees today announced that Norm Linsky, MPA, MA has been selected as the Society's new Executive Director.

"Norm has the experience and enthusiasm to help our strong and growing organization move to the next level, at a time when cardiovascular computed tomography (CCT) is advancing at a fast pace,"said SCCT President Ricardo C. Cury, MD, FSCCT. "Norm is an innovator, mentor and team builder, ideally suited for his new role as CCT's importance in patient care continues its rapid growth."

Linsky comes to SCCT from the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), where as Executive Director for 14 years he partnered with physician volunteers to dramatically increase SCAI's membership, educational programs, advocacy efforts, guidelines and international partnerships. Under his leadership, SCAI achieved Federal recognition of interventional cardiology as a separate specialty, expanded public visibility, and earned national awards for educational excellence.

"SCCT is fortunate to have a talented and dedicated staff", said SCCT President-Elect Jonathon A. Leipsic, MD, FSCCT. "Norm will forge even closer volunteer - staff partnerships towards excellence in education, guidelines and member services, all focused on our fundamental goal of providing the best possible care for our patients."

Earlier in his career, Linsky held several positions at the American College of Cardiology. Prior to ACC, he led many professional services contracts with NIH, the National Science Foundation, CMS, CDC, the Department of State and other Federal health agencies. He worked with physicians and scientists to plan medical research programs, national health education campaigns, and medical technology transfer programs. He holds Masters degrees in health policy and English.

"This is an important strategic move at the outset of the Society's tenth anniversary year,"SCCT Vice President Leslee J. Shaw, PhD, FSCCT said. "Ten years ago SCCT was founded by Dr. Stephan Achenbach and other visionaries, who saw that cardiovascular CT was poised to play an increasingly vital role in patient care. That vision ten years ago is becoming even more of a reality with each passing day. The opportunity for CT experts to contribute to even better patient care -in a quality-effective and cost-effective manner -is tremendously exciting."

Dr. Achenbach stressed the interdisciplinary and global nature of the Society. "SCCT and its members worldwide are uniquely positioned to play a key role in delivery of the best possible patient care,"Dr. Achenbach said. "SCCT is a unique global partnership of radiologists, cardiologists, scientists and technologists. All are dedicated to the same goal: achieving the highest standards of quality and excellence in patient care."
