August

cardiologists and staff in the technique of transradial access
for angioplasty and stenting, Pennsylvania-based
Drs. Samir B. Pancholy and Ian Gilchrist have organized a
one-day training course in the method.
The didactic course will be held on October 10, 2009 at the Hilton
Scranton & Conference Center.
Dr. Pancholy
told Angioplasty.Org that the session is being co-sponsored by
The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and
Interventions (SCAI) and has also been approved for six hours
of Category I CME credit. |
The course lists an all-star faculty of experts
in the transradial field, including Olivier Bertrand, MD,
Ron Caputo, MD,
John Coppola, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Tak Kwan, MD, FACC,
FSCAI, Tejas M. Patel, MD,
FACC, FESC, FSCAI and more.
The course is titled TransRadial Intervention
Program 2009 (TRIP2009) and the introductory notes state:
"Transradial
access has been proven to be the safest, most comfortable way to
perform
catheter-based
procedures. Learning transradial technique
basics is the most difficult step in the process of transitioning
from femoral to radial access. We are delighted to
present a
comprehensive course to provide the femoral operator with all
the necessary basics
for starting a transradial program at their catheterization laboratory.
It will also have advance techniques for the more experienced
operator. The course will be taught by world-class faculty, with
special
emphasis on technique and basics. A transradial computer-simulation
module
will be available for participants to have hands-on catheter
manipulation experience from the radial route, in an interactive
fashion, during
breaks."
The course fee is $100.00 for physicians and $50.00
for Fellows, residents, nurses and techs. The program states that
the fees will be refunded upon production of proof of
trainee status
on the day of the course.
